This notice covers official public-record datasets Fonteum republishes for public-interest transparency, compliance research, sanctions and AML screening, and preservation of an attested historical record.

Controller and scope

The controller is Fonteum LLC. Contact: privacy@fonteum.com. This page is separate from the user privacy policy because public-record subjects may include sanctioned persons, company officers, government contractors, healthcare providers, facilities, and other people or entities named by official source publications.

Purpose and lawful basis

To the extent the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, Fonteum relies on Article 6(1)(f) legitimate interests: public-interest transparency, compliance and sanctions/AML research, public-record provenance, source comparison, and preservation of an attested historical record of official publications. The legitimate interests are documented internally in the legitimate interests assessment linked from this workstream.

What Fonteum does not allege

Fonteum republishes official designations and register facts as source records. Fonteum does not itself allege or infer criminal conduct from a listing, register entry, enforcement caption, or historical designation. Status fields should be read with their source date, source authority, and stated limitations.

Source of the data

Fonteum obtains records from official public sources, not from the record subject. This table identifies the source family, official source URL, license posture, cadence, and categories of fields processed.

Article 14 notice route

Fonteum holds no contact details for most public-record subjects. Direct notification would involve disproportionate effort; this published notice is the appropriate transparency measure described by Article 14(5)(b). This page states the source of the data, categories processed, purposes, lawful basis, retention criteria, and rights route.

Retention

Fonteum retains a public-record fact for as long as the record remains in, or formed part of, the official source. Snapshots are append-only. If an authority later delists, amends, suppresses, or corrects a record, Fonteum preserves the historical snapshot and updates the presentation layer to show current status, end date, correction, or suppression reason.

Rights and carve-outs

Record subjects may request access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, portability, or suppression review at /legal/data-requests. Fonteum will answer within 30 days. Rights may be limited where the record is an official public register, where erasure would impair an attested historical archive, where a legal obligation requires preservation, or where the correct route is the originating authority.

Removal route: sanctions and watchlists

If you are named on a sanctions list and wish to be removed, apply to the designating authority. Fonteum can correct its display of source status, show an ended designation, and withhold fields under the suppression policy, but Fonteum does not control the official list.

Removal route: registers

If a register authority suppresses a field, Fonteum records a separate suppression entry and withholds the field at read time. Apply first to the register authority that controls the public record.

Suppression policy

Fonteum does not delete or mutate source snapshots. Suppressions are additive records applied at read time. A withheld field renders as [withheld — see suppression policy] with a reason code. The narrow reason codes and counts are published at /legal/suppression-transparency.
